Dry Docks & Graving Docks

Dry Docks & Graving Docks

Galpa Construction is very well known because our facilities are equipped in order to efficiently provide yoepairs your vessel needs. If it is necessary, our facilities can accommodate your vessel, no matter its size. We count with the most highly trained staff,
capable of delivering your vessel back to the water in the shortest time and the safest way.

To repair your vessel, our company will use our dry and graving docks. When a barge is inside one of our graving docks, the gates are closed and the water is pumped out to allow
the vessel to rest on the keel blocks.

Then, the ship is completely stationary and our staff can proceed to the graving related works –that is, the removal of the rust, the cleaning of the hull and painting it–. Once the jobis done, the dock is flooded to allow the ship to float and be returned to you.

A floating dry dock, however, is a floating U-shaped construction we can use to repair your ship in a dry environment. The floating dry dock is partially sunken to allow the vessel to enter and, once it is inside and the dock walls sustain the ship, then the water is pumped
out. The dry dock will lift the vessel and expose the hull to our workers in order to be repaired.
